Guns n’ Roses: Matt Sorum supporter of the Cardano crypto

A photograph depicting former Guns n’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum and the CEO of Cardano (ADA), Charles Hoskinson, was published last night on Twitter.

The two of them are in fact together in Davos, Switzerland, for the annual World Economic Forum, an event that brings together the most important personalities from the fintech world but also from the traditional finance sector.

The photograph is accompanied by the words “@IOHK_Charles, Great meet you in @Davos. You are a Rockstar my friend!”, making it clear that somehow Matt Sorum knows the Cardano project and the blockchain sector.

Matt Sorum and the crypto world

In fact, not so long ago, in March 2018, the former drummer of Guns n’ Roses launched a blockchain-based initiative for the protection of copyright in music. The project is called Artbit and sees among its advisors also big names in cinema including Toby Kebbell, known for films like Rocknrolla and The Fantastic 4.

The project wants to solve the so-called “noise of the music business”, as Sorum himself defined it in an interview with Forbes, in other words, the problems of monetization and recognition of work as an artist and having full control over it.

“[The problem is that] there’s no monetization in streaming. No one’s downloading music anymore, really. No one’s buying records.”

Whereas with Artbit it would be possible to monetize music without intermediaries – who in the music world are known for taking a big cut – and earn crypto, all through the transparency of the blockchain.

Artbit is based on the Hedera Hashgraph project, although given the friendly photo with Cardano’s CEO perhaps the underlying blockchain will be replaced or Matt Sorum will focus on other crypto projects as well.
