Mark Cuban has bought Ethereum

The well-known billionaire Mark Cuban seems to have bought Ethereum

He himself confirmed this with a tweet on his official profile, in which he claimed to have acquired a shitcoin

It all starts with an NFT based on Ethereum, as confirmed by Cuban himself. Indeed, on his Rarible page there are NFTs for sale in ERC1155 format called “The RollUp 2021”, depicting an animated GIF with a player of his Dallas Mavericks.

Since these NFTs appear to be listed on Mark Cuban’s official page on Rarible, and since a transaction with gas paid for in ETH was required to create them on the Ethereum blockchain, the person who posted them certainly owned ETH.

At this point, although final official confirmation is still lacking, it is very likely that Mark Cuban himself has acquired ETH.

He had already tweeted about Bitcoin a couple of weeks ago, in response to Tyler Winklevoss, saying that he had underestimated its ability to create a narrative about BTC, and thus generate demand.

So despite saying in April last year that Bitcoin was too difficult to understand, and only a few days ago saying that he believed many cryptocurrencies would not survive the passage of time, he has now embarked on something that is certainly not as easy as creating and selling an NFT.

Mark Cuban, Bitcoin and Ethereum

Cuban clearly knows more about cryptocurrencies than he cares to admit, and most likely he has expert collaborators who are helping him take his first steps into this world.

In light of this, it is not only possible to imagine that he may have bought ETH, but perhaps BTC as well.

The fact is that many investors who come from traditional finance are still very reluctant to admit a sincere interest in cryptocurrencies, and probably want to avoid public knowledge that they have bought them.

This is both because some have to defend their reputations, as they have made negative judgments about them in the past, and because they are afraid of public judgment. But these fears are likely to fade with time.
