Who is DigitalBits, the main sponsor of AS Roma

AS Roma have unveiled their new shirt with their main sponsor in plain sight: DigitalBits, a blockchain company.

The world of cryptocurrency is making its official debut in the Italian Serie A for the upcoming season. Roma has beaten Inter, whose partnership with Socios has not yet been made official, so much so that the Nerazzurri’s shirt is currently without a main sponsor.

The Italian football team is attracting a lot of attention. The announcement of the new coach José Mourinho has unleashed fans and onlookers. The DigitalBits logo already appeared at the official presentation of the new coach. However, the relevance of the partnership was evident yesterday with the presentation of the new jerseys of the Giallorossi, branded New Balance.

The DigitalBits logo, in the centre of the jerseys, replaced Qatar Airways, the main sponsor in previous years. According to rumours, Roma have entered into this partnership, which will run for three years. Although the official agreement has not yet been signed (the signing is scheduled for July 27th), it was decided to speed up the process by showing the logo on next season’s shirts.

Who is DigitalBits

From the official website, it emerges that DigitalBits is a fast and secure open source blockchain focused on supporting users of digital assets. According to CoinMarketCap reports, it is a fork of Stellar.

DigitalBits’ blockchain can be used by brands to bring their products to market, ranging from tokens to stablecoins to NFTs.

The ecosystem also includes the XDB token, which is used to run the infrastructure, but also as a bridge for transactions involving different assets. Finally, it can be exploited as a micropayment system.

The token is at position 6,577 on CoinMarketCap. With yesterday’s presentation it gained 60% and is now worth $0.08.

DigitalBits wants to make blockchain adoption mainstream. The partnership with AS Roma points exactly in this direction.

Sport and crypto

The world of cryptocurrencies is now linked to the Italian Serie A. Crypto.com sponsored the Coppa Italia final and at the time the Lega Serie A guaranteed that it would be a much longer deal than a single match.

Now DigitalBits is guaranteeing its presence on Roma’s shirts for next season, and perhaps for three years.

It is clear that crypto companies are using sport as a vehicle to make themselves known. Italy is not exempt from this trend either.
