TRUTH, Donald Trump launches his own social network

It will be called TRUTH Social, and it will be Donald Trump’s social network

After being banned from Facebook and Twitter and having taken another social network, Parler, offline, the former US president is about to launch his own platform.

Donald Trump challenges social media with TRUTH

TRUTH is owned by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which went public yesterday.

The social network will go live in beta version in November 2021. It is currently also possible to pre-order the app on the Apple Store and join the waiting list on the official website.

In 2022, the social network expects to be available to the general public.

TRUTH will undoubtedly be a social media network linked to politics. The official website currently features a claim: Follow the truth. A mission statement follows:

“TRUTH Social is America’s “Big Tent” social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology”.

Trump goes back online

With TRUTH, former US President Donald Trump will finally be able to get back online and challenge the overwhelming power of social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

In the official press release, Donald Trump didn’t mince words:

“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech. We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable. I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”.

Donald Trump is referring to the major social media bans that he has been involved in since the events on Capitol Hill. On that occasion, his fans stormed Congress where Joe Biden’s victory in the recent presidential election was being validated. The former president was accused of stirring up his fans on social media and not stopping them, or rather, of doing so too late.

TMTG’s plans

Donald Trump has not given up and has set up a company that aims to become a major player in the communications sector

In fact, TMTG will merge with Digital World Acquisition Corp (listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker DWAQ), which will initially finance Trump’s company.

It will not limit itself to social networking. It will also soon launch a video-on-demand service, TMTG+. It will broadcast entertainment, news and more. It will be headed by Scott St. John, already known as executive producer of America’s Got Talent and numerous other TV programmes.

In the meantime, the partnership with TMTG has been good for DWAQ, which can boast of a real boom in its shares on the stock exchange, to the extent that it has been suspended for excessive volatility.
