The renowned Plan ₿ Forum, the annual conference on Bitcoin presented by Tether and the City of Lugano, is adding new speakers for its second edition.
Scheduled for 20-21 October 2023, the second Plan ₿ Forum will also welcome deep conversations about freedom of speech and communication, as well as financial freedom.
In this regard, Stella Assange, lawyer and wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, has joined the speakers along with Gabriel Shipton, acclaimed film producer and brother of Julian.
Gabriel’s documentary, Ithaka, also premiering at the Sydney Film Festival in 2022, chronicles Julian Assange’s decades-long struggle and explores the profound impact this battle has had on those closest to him.
Joining the new speakers will be John Noble Shipton, an advisor to the Assange Campaign and Julian’s father, who has passionately defended his son’s human rights around the world.
These influential speakers return to the Plan ₿ Forum by popular demand after the highly anticipated 2022 panel, “The Attack on Julian Assange is an Attack on Free Speech.” Julian Assange’s wife, brother and father will again address pressing issues such as freedom of the press and democratic rights in the face of Julian’s indictment.
Tether, Lugano and the second Plan ₿ Forum: financial freedom with Bitcoin
This second annual Plan ₿ Forum promises an outstanding lineup of speakers who will explore how Bitcoin is reshaping the world, both socially and economically.
Moreover, along with financial freedom, Plan ₿ planned to also want to address crucial topics such as disintermediation of finance, accessibility of financial services, unbanked individuals, and regulation.
Prominent speakers already announced include Adam Back, CEO of Blockstream, Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Tether and Bitfinex, Michele Foletti, Mayor of Lugano, Filip Karađorđević, Prince of Serbia, Jameson Lopp, CTO of CASA, Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert, co-founders of El Zonte Capital, Mathias Buus, CEO of Holepunch, Samson Mow, CEO of Jan3, and Farida Nabourema, executive director of the Togolese Civil League.
The Memorandum of Understanding explained
The City of Lugano and Tether, at the request of Socialist City Councilor Raoul Ghisletta, and other members, recently provided information regarding Plan ₿.
This is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Lugano and Tether entered into on 3 March 2022, and which saw the stablecoin USDT, along with Bitcoin Lightning and LVGA become the three legal currencies in the Swiss city.
The goal of the City of Lugano is to strengthen its position as a Swiss and European hub for digital innovation, particularly blockchain technology, through concrete projects and solutions.
In order to achieve this goal, the city has engaged with the formation, organization and promotion of international events, just like Plan ₿, which saw its first edition last October with more than 2,000 participants.
In any case, the MoU between Lugano and Tether does not constitute a convention, but a letter of intent with a duration set at a minimum of four years.
