Ethfinex Announces Governance Summit

PRESS RELEASE

Ethfinex To Be Joined By Bitfinex, Aragon, Giveth, and More To Discuss the Limitations of Current Governance Models Ethfinex, a hybrid decentralized Ethereum exchange that was launched in February by trading platform Bitfinex, is to hold a three-day event, this Saturday 29th September until Monday 1st October, dedicated to the exploration of models of decentralised governance.

The Ethfinex Governance Summit features a range of speakers, esteemed academics, critical thinkers, and start-ups operating within the blockchain ecosystem.

Will Harborne, Ethfinex Director of Operations said, “We want Ethfinex to be a uniquely community-focused platform, where the major decisions are ultimately made by the users. A central tenet of Ethfinex is to bring together those with different approaches to solve the challenges of decentralised governance. Lugano is a manifestation of this mission, and an opportunity to design and fine-tune the decision-making process specific to Ethfinex and our Nectar community as well as share ideas with many of the other projects in the ecosystem who are on the same path.”

The Summit aims to bring together contrasting minds from an array of disciplines to discuss innovation within distributed governance models. Speakers confirmed for the event include Alex Gladstein (CSO, Human Rights Foundation), Griff Green (Founder, Giveth.io), Luis Cuende (Co-Founder, Aragon), Paolo Ardoino (CTO, Bitfinex), Sarah Compani (Legal Counsel, Bitfinex), Jenna Zenk (CTO, Melonport), Clement Lesaege (CTO, Kleros), and more. To complement the robust line-up of speakers, the three-day event will also include a number of workshops and project demonstrations designed to stimulate discussions on a variety of governance-related topics.

Announced in August 2017, and launched as a beta in December of that year, Ethfinex has steadily grown and now processes daily volumes averaging over $70 million USD. Powered by the Nectar (NEC) token, distributed to users on a monthly basis based on their trading volumes, Bitfinex’s vision for Ethfinex is to create a community-governed trading platform where platform fees, token listings, and governance decisions are distributed amongst users. Ethfinex recently launched Ethfinex Trustless as a decentralised exchange focusing on ERC20 tokens.

“The blockchain and cryptocurrency space provides such fertile ground for rich crossover collaborations between ambitious, innovative projects. The goal of the Ethfinex Governance Summit is to facilitate such collaboration, giving dedicated, passionate individuals an outlet to meet, share ideas and develop the governance methods, models and protocols of the future,” concluded Harborne.

Sponsors of the Ethfinex Governance Summit include Crypto Valley, Kleros, Ledger, UTRUST, POA Network, Poseidon Group and Spatium. You can learn more on summit.ethfinex.com.
