The EOS logo in Platonic geometry

Although EOS announced its token distribution last year and successfully launched the mainnet, little do we know about the symbolism of the EOS logo and the name itself.

The founders have not so far revealed the meaning of the name, but we know that the EOS logo has a deeper meaning.

The graphic representation of the blockchain developed by Daniel Larimer, CTO and co-founder of EOS, is a Chestahedron.

The Chestahedron is more than just a geometric figure and the very creation of this figure is the result of an empirical-artistic process that lasted for years. The Chestahedron was created by Frank Chester – a Platonic-inspired sculptor, artist and surveyor – long before EOS decided to use it as its logo.

Chester was inspired by Plato’s sacred geometry and five forms, each with the same faces, including the tetrahedron (4 faces), the cube (6 faces), the octahedron (8 faces), the dodecahedron (12 faces) and the icosahedron (20 faces).

The ancient Greeks believed that these five solids were the basis of universal sacred models and physical creation. Four of them were seen as archetypal patterns behind the four elements (earth, air, fire and water), while the fifth represented the pattern behind the life force itself, the spirit or ether.

We also know that these forms also have a connection with the arrangement of protons and neutrons in the elements of the periodic table, with the Earth’s electromagnetic and gravitational fields and the human body’s energy fields and that is perhaps why sacred geometry is linked to science.

The Chestahedron representing the EOS logo is a form derived from Platonic solids with the difference that it has 2 types of faces, triangles and kites, while Platonic solids have only one type of face. Despite this, all faces have the same amount of surface.

It has seven surfaces: four equilateral triangles and three quadrilaterals. It contains seven points and twelve edges.

The form of a Chestahedron never existed before on Earth and Chester invented this form through sacred geometry and reinterpreted it through an artistic process.

Through his research, Chester discovered that, while the other forms represent earth, air, fire, water and spirit, the Chestahedron represents the heart.

When Daniel Larimer presented EOS at the Consensus 2017 he said: “we like to think that EOS is a blockchain of the heart”.

Brock Pierce, one of the biggest investors in EOS, has also recently noticed that when you move the last letter of the word Earth, you get the word Heart insinuating an even closer link between the two things.
