Roger Ver: “Bitcoin Cash was more of an upgrade than a fork”

The Bitcoin Cash hard fork not only led to the birth of a new cryptocurrency (Bitcoin SV) but also updated the BCH protocol, explained Roger Ver.

In fact, the CEO of Bitcoin.com and supporter of this update, during a meetup dedicated to Bitcoin Cash in Tokyo, said that it was not just a hard work but an actual upgrade.

Tokyo is the venue for the weekly Bitcoin Cash meetups, as Roger Ver resides in the Japanese capital and participates very often in these meetings. In addition, Bitcoin.com’s own headquarters are in Tokyo.

During the last meetup, Ver talked about the chain split and the effects of the hard fork on the existing tokens. He started by saying that the BCH fork was not just a fork but an update of the protocol to the new version proposed by ABC.

Moreover, Ver stated that BSV tokens are still present in Bitcoin.com users’ wallets, but he admitted he doesn’t know how long this new cryptocurrency will survive:

“You needn’t worry because both the tokens are present in your Bitcoin.com wallet. I really don’t know how long SV is going to last, it may last for years to come or it may disappear after a couple of days”.

To tell the truth, Bitcoin SV (BSV) has survived for almost two weeks now, and, at least in the short term, it doesn’t seem to give any signs of failure.

Ver also talked about Craig Wright, nCHain’s Chief Scientist and one of BSV’s major supporters, saying that the assumptions put into circulation by Wright about the use of the new BCH ABC protocol for illegal activities are false and completely unfounded.

“Craig may say a lot of things and then ask people to ban ABC. That’s like saying if I beat anyone with my shoes, then all shoes should be banned. We played out all the cards and the fork wasn’t even a close competition. Bitcoin Cash is still going strong while BSV is struggling to even get off the ground”.

In fact, answering a further question about SV’s attacks on the ABC network he said that “they can try whatever they want but nothing is going to happen”, adding then that the idea proposed by SV is full of false promises and there is no product of theirs that could worry the ABC team.

In other words, the war between the two factions doesn’t seem to be over just yet, even if the hash war of the first days after the fork has already ended with ABC’s victory over SV.

The technical development of the two projects is different and, in both cases, it’s a real update of the protocol compared to the Bitcoin Cash one before the fork.
