Dash Merchant Venezuela: the wallet sets a new downloads record

Dash‘s golden moment in Venezuela continues, there are now more than 2,500 businesses that accept it as a means of payment and the South American country has become the first in the list of those where most wallet are downloaded, according to data shared by Dash Merchant Venezuela.

More than 50% of all businesses that accept this cryptocurrency as a means of payment worldwide are concentrated in Venezuela, according to DiscoverDash‘s statements.

Given the recent Bolivar/Bitcoin trading volume record on LocalBitcoins, it seems that the local population is increasingly moving towards the use of cryptocurrencies, instead of the local fiat currencies.

In fact, the Bolivar is subject to such hyperinflation that puts it at risk of survival, while the Petro has not yet become of common use because, to date, there are no wallets that allow trading it.

The news of the recent records reached by Dash in Venezuela has been retweeted by Dash Merchant Venezuela, whose president, Alejandro Echeverría, when noting that also the number of transactions has increased to hundreds a day, said that:

“It is important to mention that this is in our POS where we can measure, but there are several merchants that prefer to charge directly from their wallet (example: small kiosks where the owner is always there), so the number of transactions is even higher.

This has been possible thanks to the joint efforts of all the teams here doing promotion, particularly our activities for “incentivizing consumption” (stage three of our strategy for adoption) where merchants do discounts, promotions and we support them on-site. Besides, the influencer campaign we did on Instagram was very successful and this created even more awareness”.

Dash Merchant Venezuela has worked to increase the number of stores that accept Dash in the South American country and in the future also aims to work to increase consumers and liquidity.

As for the download of wallets, they have taken off also thanks to the sales of KRIP smartphones that have an integrated Dash wallet: more than 60,000 have already been sold, especially in Venezuela.

According to Dash Core CEO Ryan Taylor, Venezuela is now the state where the official Dash wallets are most downloaded, part of which is due to KRIP mobile phones.

These smartphones are sold along with a paper-wallet preloaded with a small amount of Dash so that users can start using them immediately.

Echeverría added:

We are not so, so close yet, there is a lot of work to do, but we have advanced a LOT this year. In just one year we have 2,500 merchants including big brand names like Subway, Papa John’s, Church’s Chicken, we have an exclusive support center for help users (Dash Help), we made it possible to use Dash without internet (Dash Text), and many more amazing things.

The most of the work has been done in Caracas, 95% of the merchants and users are here in the capital. But it is the right way to do it: focus on one specific place/city, prove the strategy, and then scale it. So, since we already proved that our strategy works, we need to repeat and scale it. Also, one of the things we need to solve is the liquidity issue. For this we already set up and alliance with Bitnovo for the Dash remittances project. In this way we will “get Dash into people hands” and Dash will flow in the economy. Repeat and scale, that is what we need to do. Besides, we will look to onboard big supermarkets and pharmacies”.

In addition to Venezuela, the adoption by retailers in nearby Colombia is also growing, with 311 businesses already involved.
