IOTA announces the Smart City Hackathon

The IOTA Foundation has announced the Smart City Hackathon, a competition open to all who are interested in developing innovative solutions that will be implemented at the urban level, such as sensors and so on.

The event will be hosted by one of the largest hardware development networks, Hackster.io. In addition, the Smart City Hackathon will feature several sponsors including the Renault Group and various developers will have the chance to win a total of $10,000 in IOTA tokens.

The IOTA Smart City Hackathon will focus on technologies that will be applied to a smart city and there will be several themes to participate in, as can be seen in the following image:

All projects will be eligible to register on the Hackster platform and participants will have until April 6th to develop an open source solution. The winners will be announced on April 13th by a jury composed of representatives of the various sponsors.

This is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of new DLTs (Distributed Ledger Technologies) such as IOTA Tangle, a type of DLT developed specifically for IoT (Internet of Things) environments, including other different and functional areas such as smart cities.
