The author of the bitcoin scam was arrested thanks to Eidoo and Vank

The Italian Postal Police announced that they have arrested in Sanremo the fraudster who used the names of Eidoo and Vank to scam his victims.

This young Genovese computer scientist promised easy investments in bitcoin, in exchange for gold and other assets, pretending to be an operator of well-known crypto companies.

As a result, the young man would have collected hundreds of thousands of euros, using encrypted communication channels and false identities obtained from the darkweb.

This way he pretended to belong to well-known foreign companies in the sector (including Eidoo), and then proposed deals related to the purchase of cryptocurrencies. In fact, once he received the payment, he would make himself untraceable.

Eidoo and Vank, alongside some scammed users, have given a mandate to the lawyer Marco Tullio Giordano of Coinlex to report the scammer and collaborate in the investigation with the Imperia Postal Police.

The young man used Telegram to contact the victims and convince them to send bitcoin and ethereum to him in exchange for cryptocurrencies at an extremely advantageous price.

Being successful with previous scams through Telegram, he had started to ask for gold items with the promise to triple the investment in a few days. However, promises of this kind should always make one think of a possible scam, unfortunately, some people have fallen into the trap probably because of the false identities used by the scammer.

In fact, the young man was in contact with several forgers who provided him with false documents that allowed him to impersonate people known in the industry, in order to appear, unfortunately, more convincing.

In the end, after a long and complex activity of investigation with cyber-tailing, interception, computer analysis and reconstruction of the traces, the specialists of the Postal Police caught him while collecting a package containing gold at the Sanremo post office with false documents. A mobile phone with GPS activated was strategically placed in the package, which was the reason why the criminal was immediately found.

During the search, several fake documents, 58 bitcoins and two kilos of gold were seized, for a total value of almost 300,000 euros.
