It is now possible to buy bitcoin with ATMs via Lightning Network

Yesterday, March 31st, during the Lightning Hackday in Hong Kong, developer and researcher Felix Weis demonstrated publicly the first successful bitcoin transaction on an ATM via the Lightning Network.

The demonstration was recorded and published directly on the official Twitter channel of the Bitcoin Association, going immediately viral:

With regard to the experiment, Felix Weis also stated:

“Just a proof of concept ‘top up your existing channel.’ Lots of bugs but two different mobile wallets worked fine”.

A new successful Lightning experiment has therefore been added to the already huge success that the second layer of bitcoin continues to achieve.

In fact, ATM adds to the already existing possibilities of using the Lightning Network such as Lapps (Lightning applications), hardware, wallets, payments, resources and development, adoption and gaming.

According to reports, the Lightning Hackday event was attended by various groups but also individuals and bitcoin enthusiasts who gathered to carry out practical operations.

From creating nodes, solving problems, learning notions, to the actual development of new projects or the continuation of those already underway.

Not only that, but the website also mentions some of the projects and their results and, besides the payment method, the Lightning Network has also been applied/studied in sectors such as gaming, music, meetups, communities, right up to the Lightning ATM.

The community is in a state of excitement and becoming more and more proactive. Recently, in fact, also in Milan, there was a meetup focused on understanding the Lighting Network.
