Truffle announces a partnership with Microsoft

Truffle has announced a partnership with Microsoft, which will become their Preferred Cloud and Services Partner.

This will allow the tools of the Ethereum-based development environment supported by ConsenSys to be integrated with Microsoft Azure to deliver a high-quality development experience and DevOps to enterprise blockchains.

Truffle has already been downloaded over 3 million times and offers users a suite of development tools to access the compilation, linking, distribution and creation of smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Integration with Microsoft Azure will enable developers to create complex blockchain-based enterprise production systems.

Truffle’s goal is to provide a development environment, test framework and asset pipeline for the Ethereum blockchain to simplify the lives of developers in creating smart contracts.

Truffle was one of the first projects of ConsenSys and since then it has created a good user base, also thanks to the integration with AxCore of Quorum and Axoni.

Microsoft, on the other hand, has recently released an extension to Visual Studio Code that offers developers an integrated development environment with the Truffle and Azure suite. This extension allows the creation and compilation of smart contracts, which can also be tested locally using the Ganache test environment, or within Azure DevOps pipelines.

In addition, Truffle Teams will enable corporate IT teams to collaborate on the development of blockchain-based solutions, while integration with Microsoft will also enable the direct integration of GitHub.

Truffle’s CEO and founder, Tim Coulter, said:

“Early on it was very clear Ethereum developers needed professional, modern development tools. With enterprise’s growing adoption of blockchain technology, Truffle recognizes the importance of this opportunity to bring our blockchain-native experience to enterprise developers across the world through our partnership with Microsoft”.

Azure Blockchain Engineering’s Principal Program Manager, Marc Mercuri, added:

“Our developers expect a world-class experience from Microsoft backed by the best of Azure and Open Source. The Truffle integration demonstrates our continued investment in working with the open source community. Integrating Truffle Suite with Visual Studio Code and Azure DevOps will deliver a world-class developer experience for customers targeting Azure Blockchain Service and public Ethereum”.
