Cameron Winklevoss: “every FAANG company will have a coin”

Yesterday Cameron Winklevoss, one of the twin creators of the American exchange Gemini, posted a tweet making a prediction: within 24 months every FAANG company will have their own coin.

In light of what will be announced today by Facebook with GlobalCoin and Libra, according to Winklevoss all companies in the FAANG group – Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix and Google – will have their own digital currency or even a real cryptocurrency.

Today, in fact, June 18th, 2019, the publication of the whitepaper for the Facebook coin is expected, which should be a stablecoin pegged to a basket of different fiat currencies to prevent volatility.

While Amazon, although not directly involved, has started to support crypto payments thanks to Moon, and by next year this function should be operational on almost all e-commerce websites.

In the meantime, however, Apple has officially presented its CryptoKit which would serve to perform common cryptographic operations” such as “use public-key cryptography to create and evaluate digital signatures, and to perform key exchange”.

For its part, thanks to Bitrefill, Netflix allows US citizens to buy gift cards using bitcoin (BTC), not to mention the fact that more and more documentaries and series on the platform are mentioning blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

Google, on the other hand, introduced the bitcoin symbol on the iOS keyboard in February 2019 and more recently partnered with Chainlink to input BigQuery data on the Ethereum blockchain using a smart contract oracle.
