Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean tweets about bitcoin

Swiss Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean of Hass-Ferrari has published a tweet with a photograph of the book “Bitcoin Billionaires”.

In the tweet Grosjean thanks the Winklevoss twins, owners of the Gemini exchange, for sending him the video with this dedication:

“Dear Romain, it’s so great having a champion like you in crypto. Our space is growing almost as fast as you drive”.

It is not clear what the relationship between Grosjean and the Winklevoss twins is, but the dedication suggests that it is more than just an advertising stunt.

It is true that, on the one hand, Gemini has a very large and widespread advertising network, but the dedication would suggest that the pilot is really involved somehow in the crypto sector.

Besides, at this moment the Formula 1 career of Grosjean is certainly not at the highest levels, since it began ten years ago with Renault, while now he drives a Haas and in the standings is seventeenth, out of twenty, with only 2 points.

However, according to Elite Racing estimates, the driver will still earn 1.5 million euros in 2019, it is not to be excluded that he has invested something in bitcoin, or intends to do so. Obviously, there is no confirmation of this.

Another hypothesis is that the Winklevosses want to become sponsors in the Formula 1 world since many billionaires are involved in this sector who might be interested in investing in cryptocurrencies.

Among other things, Formula 1 has already been involved with cryptocurrencies in some way, albeit indirectly. Whereas in other sports, crypto has been given the green light for real collaborations, such as in American football or the NBA

Moreover, motorsports seem to be a fertile ground for collaboration with crypto companies, as demonstrated by the case of Eidoo, sponsor of a car competing in the Mini Challenge.
