Ethereum Name Service (ENS), the blockchain naming service previously provided only for Ethereum addresses, today announced the launch of its new multi-coin feature that already has a partnership with 15 new wallets.
D’CENT Wallet, TrustWallet, Coinbase Wallet, Bitcoin.com Wallet, Opera, MyCrypto and Atomic Wallet are some of the supporters of the new multi-coin ENS service, which will allow users to use an ENS name for all crypto-wallets with the advantages of decentralisation, security, censorship-resistance, programmability.

According to reports, ENS was previously supported by 12 wallets only for Ethereum addresses. Thanks to this new feature the total wallets supporting ENS have doubled to a total of 24 wallets.
At the moment, an initial version has been launched on the official ENS Manager app to test the function only for ETH, BTC, LTC and ETC addresses with the idea of expanding the interface capacity for the other cryptocurrencies in the coming weeks.
But not only that: another feature of ENS will be that of being able to use new native TLDs besides .eth that represents Ethereum, so as to be able to support other useful things.
In this regard, here is a practical example described directly by the blockchain-based naming service:
“The Ethereum Foundation owns the DNS name “ethereum.org”; with our system they could also have an ENS record for “ethereum.org” (not ethereum.eth, which is a separate name). In this way, the Ethereum Foundation could use “ethereum.org” both for their normal website (using DNS) and for receiving cryptocurrency payments (using ENS)”.
An application that already seems to work for the domains .XYZ, .LUXE, .KRED and .ART.
During the summer, it was announced that ENS could also be used for the .onion domains of the Tor network, solving problems of unreadable nomenclature.
In fact, it is possible to write the website name on Tor browser with the extension .eth and then be redirected to the .onion website in a simple and clear way, all thanks to the use of ENS and MetaMask communicating on the Ethereum blockchain.
