Spain: Telefónica and a blockchain network with over 8,000 companies

During the third meeting of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain – APTE, the telecommunications giant Telefónica has obtained an agreement to create a blockchain network that brings together more than 8000 companies.

According to reports, the event was held last week at the headquarters of the Science and Technology Park of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and welcomed the 64 parks of different autonomous communities.

To be more specific, these 64 parks that make up the association are equivalent to exactly 8,157 companies and represent a turnover of 28,984 million euros per year.

The main focus of the Association’s meeting was the creation of a working group to launch the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, known as SDG, which involved the collaboration of the Association in the Telefónica project.

Among these eco-friendly objectives are the eradication of poverty, access to affordable energy and the adoption of urgent measures against climate change.

Exactly yesterday came the tweet from the Spanish multinational in search of new ideas:

This agreement between APTE and Telefónica provides for an initial trial phase of three months

The use of blockchain technology will substantially improve the services offered by the parks to companies in terms of reducing red tape and simplifying procedures, but also to improve verification and authentication, reducing costs and becoming efficient infrastructures.

Blockchain solutions are increasingly captivating the global scene. Recently, in fact, the Chinese leader Xi Jinping has expressed his support for the development of this technology.

With this in mind, Telefónica’s mission will be to demonstrate over the next three months how to create a blockchain network that could prove to be one of the most important for Spain
