The updated list of books on blockchain technology

As is often the case in the blockchain sector, which is highly technological and purely digital, it is forgotten how a tangible medium such as a book can be the key to gaining more knowledge.

In fact, most of those who have approached this world have done so virtually, interfacing with a computer and an internet connection, which has allowed them to read about the invention of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies on websites and blogs.

It all started with just a few pages, the famous bitcoin whitepaper, which recently celebrated its 11 years. In this paper, Satoshi described the future of electronic payments and the BTC blockchain, which has lasted the longest until now.

Obviously, there are many projects out there, over 5000, and many different protocols, just under 1000. This article will only include physical and digital books about the most famous blockchains.

Bitcoin (BTC)

As far as bitcoin is concerned, however simple its programming and scripting language may seem, the underlying concept is much more than just transactions and includes a real revolution and paradigm shift in the economic world, thanks to the elimination of trust.

Considering the longevity of the project, bitcoin boasts numerous publications. We have selected 3 reasonably complementary books:

Mastering Bitcoin: Programming the Open Blockchain

The Bitcoin Standard

The Bitcoin Bible

Cardano (ADA)

Although this blockchain is still evolving, with the next update that will introduce the PoS (Proof of Stake), it already has a small book of 129 pages, explaining the programming language Plutus, which is used to develop smart contracts on Cardano.

Plutus: Writing reliable smart contracts

Ripple (XRP)

In the case of Ripple (XRP) there is not much, although there is something at the embryonic level in the small 80-page book written by an independent author, who tries to explain the basics of how the ledger works without going into too much detail in terms of development:

Ripple and XRP for Beginners: The Guide to the XRP-Coin and the Blockchain Technology

Monero (XMR)

About Monero (XMR), there is a book that illustrates various passages of the blockchain, from the simple to the more complex, in a volume that has 212 pages:

Mastering Monero: The future of private transactions

Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

Interestingly, for the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) blockchain, born from the forking of bitcoin, the road has been easier because, besides having a previous and known foundation, it was the same company behind it, Bitcoin.com, that created the digital version of a book that explains how it works:

Mastering Bitcoin Cash – Build a foundation of knowledge

Ethereum (ETH)

We can find countless publications about Ethereum, not least because it is the blockchain that has allowed the creation of many projects and ICOs thanks to its smart contracts. It is impossible not to mention the book by Antonopoulos:

Mastering Ethereum: Building Smart Contracts and DApps

EOS

EOS could not be missing from this list, especially given that a book has recently been published which talks about the EOS blockchain in full, starting from its origins and the history behind its logo, up to the creation of the Hello World smart contract.

Mastering EOS: Practical guide for beginners and advanced
