The bitcoin (BTC) generator scam

Over time, we have witnessed a number of fraudulent practices that offer easy proftis in the cryptocurrency sector. Today’s scam concerns a generator of free bitcoins, i.e. a system to produce bitcoins from scratch but without using PoW (Proof of Work) to mine them, which is obviously completely unfounded and this is why.

The malicious website in question is the following https://freefollowersboost.com/bitcoin-online-miner-spoofer/, which has been active for a year and has servers in Russia. On the homepage there is a simple interface where a bitcoin address and the amount of bitcoins we would like to receive are requested:

After entering the data, a window appears that asks us to confirm the process. After the confirmation, there is a page displaying a lot of numbers and data, making the victim believe that there is actually some sort of process that allows the miracle.

At the end of the operation, there’s a webpage showing that our bitcoin amount has been transferred and that to be confirmed it is necessary to pay the miner for this transaction, to be exact 0,00499 BTC, which amount to little more than $40.

However, the imaginary bitcoin generator does not bring any profit, but only a loss for those who naively make the transfer of the requested amount to the address of the alleged miner. The site turns out to be a real scam to the detriment of those who have been tricked by this system promising easy gains.

Finally, we remind and invite users not to use such systems, because the same page could have some kind of malware. It is also highly discouraged to provide your main bitcoin address, because, if there is also the field of the email, then the criminals could very well extract information and money because they know your address, causing you to be quite alarmed.

We conclude with a warning and a phrase to keep in mind “Don’t Trust, Verify!“.
