Microsoft partners with Enjin for new NTFs

Microsoft, in partnership with Enjin, has launched the Azure Heroes initiative.

It is a recognition program to reward with digital collectibles those who have had a significant impact in Azure’s technical community.

In fact, thanks to the partnership with Enjin, original and unique Azure Heroes badges have been created, converted into digital assets on the public blockchain of Ethereum. 

These are digital collectibles in the form of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) that use the Ethereum blockchain for issuance and transactions. 

Each season new unique badges will be coined in verifiably limited quantities and registered on the public blockchain, then distributed to the most deserving people. 

In addition, some badges are more difficult to earn than others, while all have their own unique transaction hash and require a blockchain wallet to be safely stored. 

Distribution takes place via a QR code, which allows assignees to receive it on their personal wallet. Once received, the NFT can be sent to any public address in Ethereum, or eventually destroyed. 

Azure Heroes will reward in this way those who have distinguished themselves for verifiable acts of impact on Azure, such as coaching, creating demos, creating example code, blogging or completing certain challenges. 

You can apply yourself as an Azure Heroes, or you can nominate someone else. Among all candidates will be selected those who will receive one of the badges issued. 

This news today has boosted the price of ENJ tokens by more than 60%, from $0.06 to almost $0.10, although in March they had even exceeded $0.20. 

Microsoft’s involvement in the crypto sector is growing, and is not limited to trying to replicate in-house technologies that underlie it. 

The use of the Ethereum network in fact makes it clear how the company, thanks to technical partnerships like the one with Enjin, has openly decided to use decentralized technologies, and not proprietary.
