Textilechain: fashion on the blockchain for the protection of Made in Italy

Last Friday, January 24th, 2020, the Best Western Plus Hotel Universo in Rome, hosted the “Festival della Moda” (Fashion Festival) which featured Textilechain – a blockchain solution.

The festival was planned by Sabina Prati, who has been working for some time on the most prestigious catwalks of AltaRoma and Fashion Week, with collaborations with RadioRadio and television programs broadcast on Sky channels. The event saw the presentation of Stefania Ceccarani‘s Goupille line, whose clothes were tracked on the blockchain.

Ceccarani explained that she decided to implement blockchain technology to track the production process of her clothes and, for this purpose, she chose the solution of Textilechain

Textilechain, a project founded by the Foodchain company and using the Quadrans blockchain, allows the end consumers of the products to access the complete history of the clothes so they can discover the history and all the processing stages from production to logistics and distribution.

The blockchain technology collects all the information, making it immutable and accessible to all users, but with full respect for privacy levels. The platform also provides access to photos, videos and all other information related to the fashion product.

The event was also attended by Laura Cappello, Chairman Legal & Governance Board of Quadrans Foundation and Caterina Ferrara, founder of Blockchain Ladies, both committed to the diffusion of blockchain technology and bridging the gender gap in the technology sector.

Goupille presents itself as a new brand of Made in Italy tailoring, combining high fashion and blockchain technology in order to provide products that are as sustainable and ethical as possible.

The brand has thus decided to combine technology with artisan skills in order to have a transparent and refined production chain, able to meet the needs of Italian women and not only, who are increasingly mindful of the origin of the garments they wear and the raw materials used.
