A new decentralized marketplace on IOTA

As recently announced by Open Marketplace, a company whose mission is to create a decentralized marketplace open to everyone, the first 3 open markets in Germany have been opened as a demonstration of the potential of the IOTA-based project

Three cities have been chosen for the demonstration:

  • Berlin,
  • Dusseldorf,
  • Hamburg.

Each has its own website so it is possible to view those who have decided to join and anyone can become a salesperson in this network.

For those who don’t know this team, it is worth mentioning that they were among the winners of the Codevid-19 Hackathon and this allowed them to continue their project, which was supported by no less than the Eclipse Foundation and the IOTA Foundation.

The world of e-commerce is a centralized sector, not to say monopolized by giants like Amazon, and this is certainly not healthy for the market, especially for those small businesses that are not able to compete.

It is interesting to note how the blockchain can be a meeting point between those who sell goods and services and the final consumer, where with the help of special smart contracts it is possible to guarantee payments and upon arrival of the merchandise the funds for the seller can be unlocked, entirely automatically.

The opening of the three marketplaces supported by IOTA is great news and continues in the wake of the positive ones, such as the name updates of the various software that took place after restarting the network a couple of months ago following the serious attack that IOTA suffered in which it was forced to shut down the entire network to solve the problem.

This news is also being reflected on the price of the crypto, which as of today is holding onto CoinMarketCap’s position 24 with a value of about $0.18.
