TRON announces the launch of Tronz for more privacy

The official date for the introduction of privacy on the TRON (TRX) blockchain has been announced thanks to the Tronz project, whose launch is scheduled for July 7th.

As can be read in the press release, this is a protocol that is represented by a smart contract and takes the name of “Smart Contract Privacy Protocol” which will be an integral part of TRON 4.0, as announced by Justin Sun himself.

Tronz vs Zcash for privacy

The Tronz team launched the MPC Torch Project (Multi-Party Computation) at the beginning of the year, in which a total of 196 developers from all over the world participated, surpassing even Zcash.

Tronz uses the zk-SNARK (Zero-Knowledge Succinct Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge) technology that can also be found on the Zcash (ZEC) blockchain.

This technology makes it possible to carry out different types of transactions, depending on the user’s needs:

  • completely public,
  • partially shielded
  • completely shielded.

Moreover, just last month Zcash recorded a peak in shielded transactions.

The remarkable thing that has been realized by Tronz is the smart contract that implements the zk-SNARKs, applicable also to all TRC20 tokens and therefore not reserved only to the main token of TRON: TRX.

In short, privacy will be applied to the entire blockchain and therefore to all tokens based on it, allowing anyone to integrate this type of functionality.

The protocol will be released completely free and accessible to everyone in July, so developers won’t have to pay any fees to implement it.

This move has probably been made with the aim of increasing its spread and integration across all TRC-20 tokens, not least because it’s part of the long-term vision of the TRON blockchain to offer different services, including greater privacy.

Privacy in blockchains

Privacy is a real mantra in the blockchain space and has seen many developments in 2020: in fact, the Litecoin (LTC) blockchain is also taking giant steps to integrate the MimbleWimble (MW) protocol by adding its blocks to the main chain to ensure confidential transactions.

Here as well, it will be at the user’s discretion whether to screen transactions or not. The testing phase should start in September.

The latest news about TRON

In any case, this is certainly good news for Tronz and follows in the wake of other positive news of the last period, such as the fact that the addresses have exceeded 6 million and that the 20 millionth block has been reached.

However, if on the one hand there are these positive pieces of news, this blockchain also brings with it countless criticisms, such as those related to the recent survey, or the heavy accusations made by Adam Back, who called TRX a shitcoin, or the Steemit case and the unplanned intervention of Justin Sun.
