Complete guide to mining with BetterHash

BetterHash is a platform that allows to mine as many as 9 different crypto assets: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Monero (XMR), Zcash (ZEC), Ethereum Classic (ETC), Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Grin Coin (GRIN), Ravencoin (RVN) and ZCoin (XZC); this is the guide to using this tool.

BetterHash adapts the hardware to the most profitable cryptocurrencies to mine and requires no great technical knowledge in order to use this platform.

An important aspect that is of relevance to the crypto world is mining, allowing users to collect some crypto assets by themselves.

We have already examined how to mine Ethereum (ETH), which are the easiest cryptocurrencies to mine, and also an interesting Bitcoin (BTC) mining system on the EOS blockchain.

One barrier that many people encounter when mining crypto is the knowledge required to initiate the mining procedure, since these are usually systems designed by developers and require interfacing with the command line.

The first step is to download the software on the PC. The app is only supported by Windows.

In order to install it, it is necessary to disable any protection system from the PC, otherwise, the program will not work.

The interesting thing about this system is that there is no need for an account to start since all the mined cryptocurrencies will be stored inside the program and then, only afterwards, it will be possible to create an account to be able to make the withdrawal.

The withdrawal is free as the only fees to be paid are those of the pools, which are around 1%, and those of the network.

Once the program starts, it will be necessary to download the test files so that it can measure the performance and see which hardware is best to use, CPU or GPU.

It is also possible to do the test with the different algorithms of the different blockchains. In addition, all the tests allow recovering a small amount of crypto that will be directly credited to the account.

Our test includes as hardware an i5-10500 CPU and an nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super GPU.

The results took one hour. In doing so we discovered that our hardware is compatible with RandomX to mine Monero with our CPU and all the others with our graphics card.

Now all that remains is to choose the crypto to mine and click on the “Apply” button.

We have chosen Monero (XMR) and Ethereum (ETH). This will immediately start the mining of the selected cryptocurrencies.

With our hardware, we can see that with our GPU we will reach about 19 Mh/s.

In a month we’ll collect 0.1 ETH, while with our CPU we’ll achieve about 1900 H/s, which corresponds to 0.05 XMR in a month.

In total therefore we can recover 4 dollars in XMR and a little less than 50 dollars in ETH.

These are obviously estimated monthly values that we will get if we leave our hardware on and thus our PC 24/7, which would cause 2 problems:

  • The wear and tear of the components;
  • Huge energy costs.

So, only if we have a really low cost for the energy then in about 1 year we will recover 1 ETH and, if the price of the asset reaches important figures then we can say that we have recovered the cost of the GPU and that of the electricity.
