Steven Cohen chooses cryptocurrencies

Point72 Asset Management, founder Steven Cohen enters the virtual currency market through the hedge Autonomous Ventures.

Steven Cohen, an American billionaire, is entering the world of cryptocurrencies through the investment in a hedge fund such as Autonomous Ventures by Arianna Simpson, a fund launched in 2017 and specializing in investments in businesses that are in the early stages of development.

The fund was funded by a group of high-level investors, including Brian Armstrong of Coinbase Union Square Ventures and David Sacks, formerly Paypal, of Craft Ventures.

The fund will focus its attention on the development of digital payment structures, so very little of its capital has been dedicated to traditional cryptocurrencies such as BTC and ETH.

An attitude that looks more to future development than to the current market situation, towards those projects of payment systems that are able to best combine the often conflicting factors related to transaction speed, scalability and anonymity.

Arianna Simpson also invested heavily in X0, a project related to the decentralization of exchanges, while critically assessing EOS’ recent choices on account freezing, and also criticizing Ripple’s centralization that exposes the project to SEC reprimand.

Stephen Cohen participates in the investment through his family fund, Cohen Private Ventures, after already collaborating with Simpson on projects related to the financing of technology companies in their early stages of development.
