The official Coinbase Pro Twitter account has announced the debut of a new currency on the well-known cryptocurrency exchange.
The currency in question is Chainlink (LINK), which has been the subject of discussion in recent weeks due to the partnership with Google.
Coinbase Pro first made it possible to only deposit the LINK token, while trading has begun at 7:00 CEST of this morning, June 27th.
Our LINK/USD, and LINK/ETH order books will soon enter transfer-only mode, accepting inbound transfers of LINK in supported regions. Orders cannot be placed or filled. Order books will be in transfer-only mode for a minimum of 12 hours. https://t.co/BnVOqhFUdV

Users can trade Chainlink with the LINK/USD and LINK/ETH pairs. As with other coins, LINK will be made available to users in most jurisdictions, but initially not to residents of the state of New York.
Coinbase Pro: Chainlink (LINK) is here
LINK is an Ethereum token that powers the decentralised network of Chainlink. This network allows smart contracts developed on Ethereum to securely connect to external data sources, APIs and payment systems.
Thanks to the collaboration with Google Cloud, the creators of dApps based on Ethereum who use Google software can integrate data from sources external to the blockchain using the services offered by Chainlink.
Chainlink had raised $32 million with an ICO in September 2017 to create such a system of distributed oracles related to Ethereum smart contract applications.
Chainlink (LINK) is currently not available on Coinbase.com or on mobile applications for iOS and Android devices. A new announcement will be made when this feature is added. It is also likely that in the coming weeks LINK will also debut on Coinbase Earn.
