As announced a few hours ago by EOS Nation, the top 30 Block Producers (BP) of the EOS blockchain upgraded the EOSIO software to version 1.8 in preparation for September 23.
The software update that makes the EOS blockchain run, EOSIO, is already available, the latest version is precisely the 1.8.1, but until yesterday the system had not been upgraded by all BPs.
Thanks to a proposal for a referendum by the EOS New York BP, the date chosen for the update of the blockchain will be September 23rd, with more than 15 million votes in favour.
The new version of the EOS blockchain introduces several updates, already announced during the event last June, mainly regarding the development on the programmer side that will allow for new features.Â
The dApps will also start to pay the cost of using the user’s CPU to avoid any complications in the user experience. The use of CPU resources may even reach 15 EOS in stake.
The countdown has started as there are just under 2 weeks left before the activation of the EOS update.
