The programmer who calls himself Bitcoin Candle on Twitter has created an app that allows payments with Lightning Network via smartwatch.
To show how it works, he made a video in which you see an Android smartwatch with an app that allows you, with a few taps, to receive and send satoshis to another app on a smartphone.
The video clearly shows that the two transactions are executed in a few seconds, even if you do not see the transaction costs.
The smartwatch app allows you to create a receiving or sending transaction, and displays a QR code to scan with your smartphone. Your smartphone, by scanning the QR code, can complete the transaction.
In addition, the smartwatch app is very easy to use because it requires very few taps and also supports voice commands.
It is obviously an app with very little functionality, i.e. it can only receive or send satoshi, but on a screen as small as that of a smartwatch it is certainly not possible to imagine that it can be easy to perform more complex operations.
It is not clear if, to complete the operations, you need a specific app on your smartphone, even though from the tweet you could guess that the app on the smartwatch can work independently.
This video suggests that in the future it will be possible to use a smartwatch to make immediate and inexpensive payments in bitcoin, thanks to Lightning Network and specific apps with basic features.
It’s really hard to imagine a simpler and faster process than the one shown in the video for making digital payments.
The app shown in the video is apparently not available on the market, or on Google Play, but is a prototype made by Bitcoin Candle just for its smartwatch. But this shows that this kind of applications can not only exist, but work.
