Bitcoin and the stars of Shark Tank

Some of the stars of Shark Tank have recently spoken out about Bitcoin.

Shark Tank is an American reality show in which entrepreneurs present their ideas to a group of investors known as ‘sharks’.

Among the stars who participate as ‘sharks’ are Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Robert Herjavec, Kevin Harrington, Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner.

Of these, two have expressed their opinions on Bitcoin in recent weeks, although not on the show.

Recently, billionaire Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has again expressed his opinion, and although he remains sceptical about it, he has finally admitted that bitcoin is a store of value.

Another bitcoin detractor, Nouriel Roubini, had already done so recently, but he too was finally forced to admit that bitcoin is a store of value, albeit a volatile one.

Cuban in particular compared bitcoin to gold, although he did so only to mock it. He said:

“It’s a store of value like gold that is more religion than solution to any problem”.

But the most interesting stance was taken by the star of the programme, Kevin O’Leary, who a few weeks ago participated in a podcast with Anthony Pompliano and said that he would be ready to invest 5% of his portfolio in an ETF on bitcoin, should it be approved by the SEC.

O’Leary has always been sceptical about bitcoin, and has even called it ‘garbage’ in the past.

Indeed, he even admitted to owning a small amount of BTC, due to a challenge from a class at Harvard University.

However, he admits that volatility and lack of proper regulation are still a drag on potential investors like himself.

The scams related to Bitcoin and Shark Tank

Unfortunately, other stars who have appeared on Shark Tank over the course of the seasons have also been involved, against their will, with initiatives that in some way have to do with Bitcoin. These are the typical scams that use the names of celebrities, and Bitcoin itself, to try to convince unsuspecting users to hand over money in exchange for phantom and improbable promises of earnings.

This kind of scam has been going on for a long time now, and it’s still going on, even though it’s been stated many times that it’s just a scam that neither celebrities nor Bitcoin has anything to do with.
