Dolce & Gabbana’s NFT: launching at the end of August

Famous Italian fashion brand, Dolce & Gabbana will launch its first “Genesis Collection” NFTs in late August on luxury marketplace UNDX. 

D&G co-founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana personally designed the objects represented by the NFTs inspired by Venice, wanting to connect “their creative work from the physical to the metaphysical world.”

Specifically, the launch is scheduled to take place at three major Dolce & Gabbana events: Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria, to be held in Venice at the end of August. So, the first official public launch will be on August 28 during D&G’s Alta Moda fashion show in Venice, while the auction will run until September 6, 2021.

The platform chosen for the launch, UNDX, is built on Polygon, a layer 2 of Ethereum.

Dolce & Gabbana’s NFT: Preparing for launch on UNDX

During a Twitter Spaces livestream, the relationship between Dolce & Gabbana and UNDX, the luxury and culture marketplace, was described.

In this regard, Shashi Menon, CEO of UNXD, said:

“We have a very deep relationship with the house of Dolce & Gabbana and have been working with them for many years. When we proposed the idea to them, we were really enthused by how the team was taken by it. What is important here is that fashion is fundamentally an artistic medium.”

Nick Gonzalez, COO of UNXD, also expressed his opinion on the matter, noting that this entry of D&G into the world of NFTs, will lead the way for other brands in the cryptocurrency space, as digital ownership creates new opportunities.

Non-Fungible Tokens continue to make all markets fall in love. Beyond the luxury and fashion sector like this one from D&G, there have been other sectors involved recently.

Such is the case with Pudgy Penguin’s Community NFTs representing a collection of penguin memes that within this summer has already seen its NFT #6873 sell for $469,000. 

Or, again, in recent days, NFTs have also entered the film industry. Such is the case with “Silhouettes,” a sci-fi film that has arranged for tickets to be sold for its viewing in Non-Fungible Token format on Liquid Network.
