Should AMC accept Dogecoin?

The CEO of AMC himself, Adam Aron, publicly asked on his Twitter profile whether his company should also accept Dogecoin (DOGE).

Global giant AMC has already  decided to accept cryptocurrencies as payment for entry to its cinemas The crypto that will be accepted are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), but speculation is starting to circulate that it may extend support for payments in other cryptocurrencies as well.

A survey from the community

Aron wrote that he would like to hear the opinion of his followers, as many have written to him in recent days saying that they should also accept payments in Dogecoin.

When asked if AMC should also experiment with accepting DOGE, he gave four possible answers to choose from:

  1. Yes, for sure do it
  2. Yes, but I won’t use it
  3. No, not that important
  4. No, a waste of effort.

Twitter community wants Dogecoin to be accepted by AMC

Out of more than 171,000 followers of Aron’s profile, there were even more than 130,000 responses, which seems to suggest that not only his followers voted, but perhaps also Dogecoin supporters who do not usually follow him.

For now, the partial result sees the first option clearly in the lead, namely that they should definitely accept them.

The victory of this answer is overwhelming: more than 68%, which is more than double all the other three answers put together.

The third answer (it’s not important) gathered only 7% of the preferences, while the second (yes but I won’t use it) less than 9%. Only the fourth answer (it would be a futile effort) exceeded 15%.

AMC could soon accept Dogecoin

These figures seem to have been influenced by a massive favourable vote perhaps coming from the enthusiastic Dogecoin community, especially since when analyzing Aron’s other tweets on average the interaction rate is a tenth of that of the Dogecoin poll tweet.

One of Aron’s most successful recent tweets, announcing AMC’s cryptocurrency payments, had “only” 16,000 likes and 4,100 retweets, while the Dogecoin survey tweet had 13,000 likes and 5,500 retweets. Given these numbers, the more than 130,000 votes seem far too many to think that they come only from his followers.

It is enough to think that the least voted option still received more than 9,100 votes, which is in line with the average volume of interactions with his tweets, while the two negative replies put together collected more than 30,000 votes, more than double his normal interactions.

In contrast to the almost 90,000 votes cast by the winning answer, the other three together barely exceeded 41,000 votes. It seems pretty clear that Dogecoin’s community of supporters have flocked to vote on this poll.

Dogecoin’s official Twitter profile has more than 2.1 million followers in total, which is more than 20 times the number of votes collected by the winning answer in this poll.
