Gemini, an exchange founded in 2014 by twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has leased the historic billboard that has always belonged to CNN in the Columbus Circle area of Manhattan. The period of use is perhaps the longest ever entrusted for an outdoor advertising line. Three years.

Cryptocurrencies and global markets. The Winklevoss method

The Winklevoss brothers are now known for their brilliance in programming new phases of digital development. Having grown a lot in recent years in the field of cryptocurrencies, also thanks to the institutional support given to their company by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), they can also claim the primacy as creatives in this new communication bet.

The campaign is organized in different viewing modes through 105 phrases displayed in the advertising space. As announced by the company, these exact phrases will be transformed into NFT tokens and auctioned through one of the platforms always connected to Gemini, the Nifty Gateway. The auction will conclude on Saturday.

However, the company of the Winklevoss twins has decided not to provide the agreement price on the rent of advertising space, although everything suggests that the exchange took place on a basis always connected to cryptocurrencies.

Billboards and cryptocurrencies

The peculiarity of the new billboard hosted on one of the historic buildings of the New York neighborhood is the reference to the fragment of Satoshi Nakamoto’s White Paper on Bitcoin. Gemini thus also wanted to emphasize the date that celebrates the thirteenth anniversary of the document drafted by the mysterious creator of the world’s most famous cryptocurrency.

However, that of the Winklevoss brothers is not the first contact between advertising campaigns in the States and NFT.

In September, Lucky Maneki Community had already chosen Times Square to launch its new collection of Japanese kittens in Non-Fungible Token. For this project, the largest of all billboards was rented.

The choice of the Gemini company once again underlines an innovative and direct marketing line that has a powerful impact, especially in the NFT sector. All this leads to interest from an audience that maybe is not yet very close to the dimension of Blockchain technology.
