ItaliaNFT, the ‘made in Italy’ NFT marketplace, has auctioned off the original of the highly prized pair of diamond shoes worn by Tadej Pogacar from the Tour de France, certified as a Non-Fungible Token. 85% of the proceeds will be donated to the Tadej Pogacar Foundation for Cancer Research.
ItaliaNFT and the drop of the pair of shoes made by DMT.
Starting 28 July, on ItaliaNFT’s marketplace it will be possible to buy the original of the highly prized pair of shoes, made by the Italian NFT-certified DMT.
The pair of diamond shoes became famous because they were worn directly by Tadej Pogacar, two-time winner of the Tour De France in 2020 and 2021 and runner-up in the 2022 edition, during the last stage of the yellow race.
The Slovenian champion chose ItaliaNFT specifically to drop his special shoes and dedicate 85% of the proceeds to his cancer research foundation, which works to fund and promote promising new research revealing the beneficial effects of physical activity and metabolism on cancer prevention, treatment and prognosis.
ItaliaNFT and the collaboration with Tadej Pogacar and DMT
This drop is the result of a collaboration between ItaliaNFT with Tadej Pogacar and DMT, a company that has been producing the highest quality shoes for the world’s top cyclists for 40 years.
The shoes are a one-of-a-kind example of DMT’s famous KRSL with the brand’s logo in natural black diamonds, made in conjunction with goldsmith atelier Inn’ Oro Gioielli, which affixed a total of 138 brilliant-cut stones with a cumulative 3.62 carats.
In this regard, Achille Minerva, CEO and founder of ItaliaNFT said:
“We are really proud to support a champion like Tadej Pogacar and DMT in this charity initiative to support cancer research. NFTs prove to have many uses, including the possibility of becoming a tool to raise funds in a transparent and certified way”.
The Giro d’Italia in NFTs
The present drop involving the cycling champion is not ItaliaNFT’s first NFT project. In fact, in mid-May, the marketplace had auctioned off the collection of the four Giro d’Italia jerseys (the legendary pink jersey, along with the white, blue and cyclamen jerseys).
What’s more, the logos of the Pink Race and the Trofeo Senza Fine were also made in their own version of Non-Fungible Token and auctioned off.
In the specific case of the Trofeo Senza Fine, the holder also had the opportunity to obtain the 4 physical jerseys autographed by the respective Giro d’Italia winners.
