Crypto gaming: Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed supports Wemix’s blockchain

Ubisoft, the publisher of video games like Assassin’s Creed, enters another crypto partnership, becoming a validator node of Wemix’s blockchain.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed in crypto partnership with Wemix blockchain

Ubisoft, the well-known publisher of famous video games such as Assassin’s Creed, has formed another partnership in the crypto sector. This is the Wemix blockchain, of which Ubisoft is one of the 40 “Node Council Partners” (NCP), becoming a validator of the network.

“Ubisoft is now WONDER 26 on WEMIX3.0 NCP! #Ubisoft, the creator of iconic games like Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, brings its technical expertise and resources as a node operator to enhance the WEMIX ecosystem, joining WONDER 26. Stay tuned with #WEMIX for the latest news.”

The Wemix 3.0 network is an EVM blockchain, which means it is compatible with Ethereum. It has nothing to do with the previous version of the network that existed on the Klaytn mainnet.

Currently, all partners of the Node Council (NCP) will manage the Wemix nodes to validate the blockchain, and Ubisoft has joined the group as number “26”. The Wemix team refers to each of these partner nodes as “WONDER”.

Ubisoft of Assassin’s Creed as a validator node in the crypto world

Ubisoft is now a validator node of the Wemix blockchain, which operates based on the Proof-of-Stake Authority protocol. It is a mix of the proof-of-stake and proof-of-authority models.

The blockchain node is a computer that runs a copy of the blockchain software and confirms transactions. All in exchange for a crypto reward, automatically distributed for the work done.

Just like Wemix, Ubisoft is already a node operator for two other blockchains. In 2022, Ubisoft became a node operator for the Hedera blockchain, and, in 2023, for the Cronos blockchain.

Gaming Web3 and NFT

Ubisoft has been in the Web3 and NFT gaming industry for some time now. In fact, it was at the end of 2021 when the video game giant announced that it had introduced NFTs in some of its games. Not only that, but Ubisoft had already mentioned at the time that it also planned to launch its own NFTs.

For this venture, Ubisoft uses the Ubisoft Quartz platform, which allows players to purchase “Digits” in the form of in-game tools such as weapons, vehicles, and cosmetics. The purchase was made in limited drops and could then be freely sold through crypto-wallets.

This program is based on Tezos, the decentralized network, so that NFTs can be purchased even outside the gaming platform.

Regarding Web3, Ubisoft has entered into a strategic partnership with Immutable in November 2023, with the aim of developing a seamless and frictionless gaming experience.
