MetaMask surpassed by Bitget Wallet in the ranking of top crypto wallets by downloads

MetaMask has been surpassed by Bitget Wallet in the ranking of the Top Crypto Wallet Mobile for downloads by CryptoRank. For the month of July 2024, in fact, Bitget Wallet was downloaded by 1.6 million users compared to the 1.5 million who chose MetaMask. 

MetaMask drops to second position behind Bitget Wallet for downloads in July 2024

The crypto analysis platform, CryptoRank, has published the ranking of the Top Crypto Wallet Mobile for downloads in July 2024, with MetaMask dropping to second place. 

In fact, it seems that the record was achieved by Bitget Wallet with 1.6 million downloads in the Google and Apple app stores, while MetaMask collected its 1.5 million. This is a difference of 100,000 downloads in a month. 

Always on the podium, then, there is Phantom with 667,000 downloads, followed by Coinbase Wallet with 475,000 downloads and SafePal by Animoca Brands with 157,000 downloads.

Specifically, the non-custodial Web3 wallet of Bitget Wallet, acquired by the crypto-exchange Bitget in 2023 for 30 million dollars, reached in July 2024 a total of 30 million users. 

Bitget Wallet has recorded a growth of +150% compared to the previous year. Geographically, its expansion was primarily registered in Asia, with a 20x increase in downloads in the regions of Japan, Philippines, and Thailand. Users in India, Vietnam, and Singapore have also increased by +300%. 

Not only that, Bitget Wallet has also conquered Nigeria where it has surpassed social media apps like YouTube, Telegram, WhatsApp, and TikTok in terms of downloads. Russia, Italy, Sweden, and Australia are other countries where it has grown in popularity. 

MetaMask and Bitget Wallet: the news of July 2024 of the two most downloaded Mobile Crypto Wallets 

Despite the difference of 100,000 downloads, MetaMask and Bitget Wallet remain the two most downloaded Crypto Wallet Mobile in July 2024. 

And so, taking a look at the latest news, it is easy to notice that in that very month MetaMask introduced its Delegation Toolkit, which involves users and developers in the world of Web3.

The objective is to simplify the development of dApps and create new experiences for users. At the moment, the MetaMask Delegation Toolkit has been made available on any Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) network, supported by a user operation bundler including Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Linea, Optimism, and Polygon. 

Not only that, always MetaMask also announced the acquisition of Wallet Guard in July 2024. This is a strategic move to strengthen the security of its platform and protect users from the growing threats of Web3.

Even at home Bitget Wallet, July 2024 brought news. Undeniable is the announcement of the launch of an MPC wallet connected with Telegram and the TON blockchain. In practice, it would be the first multi-party computation wallet developed within the Telegram ecosystem, capable of offering greater security and flexibility to the community.

Another novelty then was the significant investment by Bitget Wallet in the Web3 trading platform Tomarket. The goal here is to capture market shares in sectors that exceed trillions of dollars, focusing mainly on decentralized markets (DEX).

Bronze Medal for Phantom Wallet

Besides the two main protagonists of the most downloaded mobile crypto wallets in July 2024, there is also a third place for Phantom Wallet, based on Solana. 

Recently, Phantom revealed which were the best tokens traded in the last week through the crypto wallet: 

“The best tokens of last week are…1. WIF; 2. POPCAT; 3. CAT DOG; 4. SCF; 5. WDOG”

Regarding the latest news, last May Phantom acquired Bitski, a Web3 specialist to introduce integrated wallets on Solana, facilitating the onboarding process for users and developers.
