Meta revives stablecoin payouts for creators in Colombia and Philippines

Meta has quietly revived stablecoin payouts for select creators in Colombia and the Philippines, using USDC on Solana and Polygon. The move marks a fresh push into digital payments after the company abandoned its earlier Libra and Diem effort in 2022.

Meta returns to digital payments

According to an update to the company website, creators who opt in must enter a third-party crypto wallet address into Facebook’s payout platform. However, Meta will not convert USDC into local currencies, leaving that step to users.

Stripe is also involved. Meta said it partnered with the payments company for crypto-specific tax reporting tied to the program. A Meta spokesperson told Fortune:
