Reddit AI stock sentiment splits as Amazon beats Nvidia on favorability

Reddit AI stock sentiment is telling a more nuanced story than the AI boom headlines alone. In a MarketWise analysis of 113,148 Reddit posts and comments across five investing-focused subreddits, retail investors looked broadly upbeat on AI tech stocks. However, that optimism was not spread evenly across the sector.

That split is what makes the data notable. Across the full sample, 61% of Reddit discussion about AI tech stocks was positive. Even so, some companies drew clear confidence, while others attracted skepticism, heavier engagement, or simply a lot of attention without the same level of approval.

In other words, the loudest stock was not necessarily the most loved. That distinction helps explain why Reddit discussion can reveal more than simple hype during a thematic market boom.

Reddit AI stock sentiment surged as the AI boom took hold

MarketWise examined posts and comments from r/stocks, r/wallstreetbets, r/investing, r/StockMarket, and r/options. Together, those communities offered a broad view of how retail traders and self-directed investors talked about AI-linked equities on Reddit.

The scale of that conversation changed dramatically over time. Reddit discussion of AI tech stocks grew nearly 21x from January 2022 to February 2026. As a result, AI shifted from a niche market theme into a central part of retail-investor chatter.

How discussion volume changed

That surge points to more than curiosity. It suggests retail investors were not just scanning headlines. Instead, they were debating winners, questioning valuations, and testing conviction in public across some of Reddit’s busiest investing forums.

When discussion rises that quickly, it usually signals a market theme that has moved beyond novelty. In practice, AI became a recurring narrative that investors returned to again and again.

Where the peak occurred

The conversation reached its highest point in November 2025, when Reddit users generated 10,432 posts and comments about AI tech stocks.

That peak matters because it shows AI stock attention was not a one-off spike. Rather, it became a sustained area of focus, with discussion volume building to a level that few market themes can maintain for long.

Amazon led on favorability, while Oracle faced the most skepticism

The topline for Reddit AI stock sentiment was favorable. More than three in five discussions, or 61%, were positive. Still, the company-by-company results showed a clear divide.

Amazon positive sentiment stood out

Amazon posted the highest positive sentiment in the analysis at 71.6%, making it the strongest performer on favorability among the stocks studied.

That result stands out because broad enthusiasm around AI does not automatically carry over to every company tied to the theme. Amazon’s lead suggests Reddit users were especially comfortable with its AI positioning compared with peers.

More importantly, positive sentiment in retail-investor spaces can reveal more than excitement. It often signals that investors feel they understand the company, trust its direction, or see it as better placed to benefit from the AI buildout.

Oracle negative sentiment drew attention too

Oracle landed at the other end of the ranking. It recorded the highest negative sentiment at 28.8%, the most bearish reading among the AI tech stocks in the study.

Yet Oracle also generated unusually strong engagement. According to the analysis, Oracle posts had the highest median upvotes per post at 40.

That combination is revealing. A stock can draw skepticism and still command intense attention when it touches a nerve with investors. In turn, Oracle was not just criticized more often than peers; it also sparked reactions strong enough to produce standout engagement.

Nvidia Reddit mentions dominated the conversation

If one company owned the discussion, it was Nvidia. Nvidia had the most mentions in the study at 25,368, making it the most talked-about AI tech stock by a wide margin.

On Reddit, no other name came close to matching Nvidia’s share of discussion. That concentration shows where retail attention settled during the AI boom.

Why Nvidia Reddit mentions matter

The gap between Nvidia and the rest of the field is important because it shows where retail investors kept returning. Across posts and comment threads, Nvidia became the centerpiece of the AI stock trade on Reddit.

That is also why the term Nvidia Reddit mentions works as a useful shorthand for retail interest in AI equities. Attention around Nvidia was simply larger than around its peers.

Attention did not equal strongest conviction

However, attention did not automatically mean strongest sentiment. Nvidia dominated the conversation, yet Amazon led on positive sentiment. Oracle, meanwhile, drew the highest negative sentiment while still generating the highest median upvotes per post.

This is where Reddit AI stock sentiment becomes more useful than raw mention counts. Volume shows what investors cannot stop talking about. Sentiment shows whether that attention is warm, skeptical, or mixed.

  • Amazon: highest positive sentiment at 71.6%
  • Oracle: highest negative sentiment at 28.8% and highest median upvotes per post at 40
  • Nvidia: most mentions at 25,368

Taken together, those metrics help separate hype from conviction.

What the Reddit data says about retail investor psychology

The broad 61% positive reading suggests the AI trade still enjoyed strong support across Reddit’s investing communities. At the same time, the details show retail investors were not treating the sector as one uniform bet.

Instead, they were making distinctions between companies, rewarding some with unusually positive discussion and challenging others more aggressively. That matters because thematic booms can lift an entire group of stocks into the spotlight, but social sentiment often shows which names investors actually feel best about once the excitement starts to mature.

In this case, Amazon positive sentiment emerged as the clearest marker of confidence, while Oracle negative sentiment pointed to a more contested view. Nvidia, for its part, remained the central object of attention. So, the stocks driving the narrative were not always the stocks winning the strongest approval.

How the MarketWise analysis was built

The methodology was straightforward and data-heavy. MarketWise analyzed 113,148 Reddit posts and comments mentioning nine AI-adjacent publicly traded companies: Nvidia, Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Palantir, AMD, Oracle, and C3.ai.

The posts came from five subreddits: r/stocks, r/wallstreetbets, r/investing, r/StockMarket, and r/options.

Sources and methods behind Reddit AI stock sentiment

The collection process used PRAW, the Python Reddit API Wrapper. Sentiment scoring was handled with VADER, a social-media-focused tool from the NLTK library.

That framework gives structure to a part of the market that is often discussed only anecdotally. Rather than relying on a few viral posts or screenshots, the analysis examined a large body of Reddit conversation over time.

For investors, that makes the findings harder to dismiss as message-board noise. Retail discussion has become a real part of how market narratives form, and this dataset shows how powerful that effect can become when AI stocks are involved.

The bigger takeaway is not just that Reddit was bullish on AI names. It is that retail investors were sorting those companies into different buckets of trust, doubt, and obsession. Those distinctions may say as much about the next phase of the AI trade as the headlines do.
