MLB Crypto is here, a blockchain game based on Ethereum created in partnership with the American Major League Baseball, the legendary MLB.

It’s the official game of the main American professional baseball league, one of the most popular sports in the country, and consists of a DApp made by Lucid Sight.

According to the developers, this will be the first game with a DApp and official digital license ever released. Currently, only one video trailer is available, while the DApp is not yet available for download and use. It will be available soon for Android and IOS.

For now, we don’t know much more, except that players will be able to use ETH to buy digital collectables from MLB, play to level up and earn various prizes.

In some ways, it resembles the famous CryptoKitties, and collectables can also be sold via the Ethereum blockchain to other users.

Kenny Gersh, Executive Vice President of MLB for Games and New Entrepreneurship, said MLB has been keeping an eye on cryptocurrencies for a long time.

But not only that: in the past, he has rejected similar ideas before accepting that of Lucid Sight. “We talked a long time ago about bitcoin – says Gersh – and whether we should accept it as payment for MLB.tv and some of our other products, and we opted not to. So this game is a more interesting intersection of blockchain technology and what we do.
