FlossLab, a company of the Italian group Net Service, has developed a technology that uses Ethereum‘s blockchain to issue secure, accessible and “hacker-proof” degree certificates.

The first certificates have already been issued by the University of Cagliari on 20th of July, starting with Computer Science degrees.

The system developed by FlossLab allows you to issue digital documents that are certified thanks to blockchain technology so that they are not manipulable or falsifiable.

To keep costs down, only one registration is made for each degree session, and no specific equipment needs to be used. Moreover, once certified on the blockchain, anyone can verify the authenticity of the documents by following the instructions provided directly from the University website.

Gianluca Ortolani, Managing Director of Net Service, says: “Our group has been investing in real and market solutions based on blockchains for some years now. The solution developed by FlossLab demonstrates that modern distributed platforms, tested and developed within our research centres, can find effective applications in both the Public Administration and industry markets”.

FlossLab is a spin-off of the University of Cagliari, acquired by Net Service in June 2018, which boasts among its various assets a laboratory of excellence dedicated to blockchain technology.
