The Reddit section dedicated to Bitcoin (r/bitcoin) has just exceeded one million subscribers.
To make some comparisons, the one dedicated generically to the news has about 17 million subscribers, gaming almost 20 million, politics 4.3 million and the one on memes 2.3 million.
The section dedicated to Ethereum, on the other hand, has about 400,000 subscribers, while Ripple under 200,000.
This shows a marked increase in interest in Bitcoin or at least a growing focus on Reddit.
The website, launched in 2005, is based on social news and entertainment, and it is the users who publish content in the form of text posts or links.
In addition, the content of the website is organized into areas of interest called subreddits.
After months of stagnation, even Google searches seem to have recovered slightly: Google Trends reveals that in November the volume of searches for the word bitcoin was more than double compared to previous months.
Discussions about Bitcoin on social networks, lately, reflect the generally negative sentiment of this period, with a peak of searches of the phrase “Bitcoin is dead“.
Therefore, it’s possible that the increase in interest in the last month is due to the difficulties in the bitcoin price markets, which for months had fluctuated around 6,000 dollars and then fell to 4,000 dollars in mid-November.
However, it should be added that November also saw an increase in trading volumes compared to previous months, probably because of the increase in interest that is also seen on social networks.
The number of daily transactions also increased slightly in mid-November, before returning to October levels, just above the lows of 2018.
