Thanks to special gift cards, it is now possible to use the Basic Attention Token (BAT) to make purchases on Amazon, Apple, Uber, Starbucks and many more.

The Brave browser has announced a partnership with TAP Network, an advertising network that connects brands and consumers in order to reward them using blockchain technology.

Thanks to this partnership, Brave users will be able to redeem BAT (Basic Attention Token) tokens on the TAP Network platform, where they will find over 250,000 brands.

BAT tokens are distributed to browser users who choose to view private opt-in ads from Brave Ads partners. When the collaboration with TAP is active, it will be possible to convert BATs into gift cards directly through the browser.

Integration into the desktop browser and Android app will be activated in the coming months.

In turn, the TAP network brands will be able to reach the users of the Brave browser which have activated the display of advertisements. TAP network includes brands such as Amazon, Apple, Red Bull, Starbucks, Uber and many others.

In addition to being able to purchase gift cards with BAT, users can also make donations to the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, World Wildlife Fund and hundreds of other charities.

Brendan Eich, CEO and co-founder of Brave Software, said:

“Both the user and the advertiser lose in today’s digital advertising landscape, and with regulations like GDPR looming all over the world, this broken ecosystem simply cannot continue as we know it. We’re excited to welcome TAP Network as a partner for our ad platform that’s built completely on privacy, and together, reward users for their attention while opening doors for brands that are looking to connect ethically with new audiences”.

Lin Dai, co-founder and CEO of TAP Network, added:

“Consumer data is being misused by major internet companies and TAP Network empowers consumers to directly take control of their own data and get rewarded from top brands. We are excited to partner with Brave to further the mission of protecting consumer privacy, and rewarding users for participating in the advertising ecosystem”.

Brave is working with several other advertising networks and brands to integrate additional advertising space into the Brave Ads catalogue, including BuySellAds, AirSwap, Fluidity, ConsenSys and Uphold.
