John McAfee has been released.
Leaving detention (don't judge my looks – four days of confinement). I was well treated. My superiors were friendly and helpful. In spite of the helpful circumstances, we've decided to move on. More later. pic.twitter.com/V4539uYCHR

“Leaving detention (don’t judge my looks – four days of confinement). I was well treated. My superiors were friendly and helpful”.
Together with the tweet, McAfee has also published some photos that actually portray him with a slightly unkempt appearance.
A few hours earlier, Rob Loggia-Ramirez, who kept McAfee’s twitter profile active in his absence, had written that John, his wife and his crew were alive and about to be released.
He also reported that he had spoken on the phone with McAfee who had said he had been forced to leave the Freedom Boat with his crew.
According to the Associated Press, the famous crypto influencer, in exile on his Freedom Boat, was arrested on Wednesday on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, as reported by the Armed Forces and Public Prosecutor’s Office.
He and his crew were arrested while docking at Ocean World in the Cofresí area of the province of Puerto Plata, a port with direct access to the Atlantic.
In fact, besides John and Janice McAfee, the Americans Richard Alan Gibson and Elizabeth McAfee, the German Robert Whitfield, the Bahamian Oral Thompson and the Haitian Vasner Louis were also arrested.
A number of various high-calibre weapons, ammunition and military items would have been seized during the arrest, which is why the crew was being interrogated these days.
The vessel seized is the luxury yacht “The Great Mystery”, now still held by the authorities.
However, so far the authorities have not provided further details on the case, so it is not even known why they were released, or whether they will be prosecuted.
If nothing else, the Associated Press article denies the hypothesis that it was just a publicity stunt.
