Yesterday IDEO CoLab announced, thanks to a partnership with CoinList, a new hackathon involving the blockchains of Ethereum, NEAR, Oasis, Stellar and Tezos. The competition will take place online, starting on August 5th and ending on September 22nd. From September 9th until the end of the period, teams will have to showcase their projects and their adoption in the industry. The winners will be announced on October 4th.
The main focus of this hackathon that also involves the Ethereum Foundation and Stellar Lumens will be to bring and engage more people with the crypto and blockchain world.Â
There are 3 macro categories in the hackathon:
- Creation of a tool that radically simplifies the user experience, such as the transfer of a cryptocurrency from one subject to another through the use of a social media, or the verification of the user on blockchain-based systems;
- Tools that introduce people to the crypto world, solutions that allow the user to have a simple tool with which to interact with cryptocurrencies and use them for certain purposes and uses, such as lending digital assets in exchange for cryptocurrencies;
- Tools that bring cryptocurrencies to users, so something like extensions that allow using cryptocurrencies to make donations or streaming channels to connect the viewer and the content creator through the blockchain.
As for the hackathon prize, the total offered is 25 thousand dollars plus the opportunity to attend 2-month courses in San Francisco or Boston. The winner will receive $10,000, the runner-up $5,000 and the winners of each protocol will receive $2,000.
