A new Litecoin Core update is coming soon. Now undergoing testing

According to what has been leaked on Twitter by developer Adrian Gallagher, a new update of the well-known Litecoin Core implementation is about to be released. As a result, the Litecoin Core version should reach the number 0.18.1, leading to the introduction of numerous improvements and new features.

At the moment, most of Litecoin’s full nodes (about 90%) are still at version 0.17.1, a major release made available during the month of May 2019.

The new build 0.18.1 of Litecoin Core should be in the testing phase, as reported by the official Litecoin blog. It’s hard to estimate when the release will take place, but it could be a matter of a few days or weeks at the most, since Adrian Gallagher has been working on the new major release since last August 20th, the day he publicly announced it on Twitter.

Litecoin Core: several new features and fixes in the major release 0.18.1

At present, no changelog has been published for this new version, despite the fact that there are almost one hundred fixes, improvements and novelties implemented in the new major release of Litecoin Core.

Usually, Litecoin Core keeps its client versions aligned with the homonymous releases for the Bitcoin network (Bitcoin Core), now at release 0.18.1. The latter version was made available on August 9th, 2019, and includes several new features and improvements.

Among them, some improvements in the management of blocks and transactions are mentioned, as well as the part related to the management of the network and P2P connections. Some interesting novelties should also be made available with regard to the graphical interface of the wallet.

According to the latest communications from the developer Gallagher, the Litecoin Core 0.18.1 update is almost ready, there are only a few fixes missing regarding the part related to the management of transaction fees. As such, Litecoin is far from being abandoned, a concern that was immediately disproved by the recent activities of the project developers.

As always, the future release of Litecoin Core will be made available on the official website as soon as it is available.
