The first AI dApp game arrives on blockchain

Today Cortex Labs announced that it has launched the first blockchain dApp on their mainnet. It is a video game in which artificial intelligence (AI) determines the winner.

The video game at hand, Digital Clash, is available for browsers with the Cortex wallet.

To play the game it is necessary to create an image by inserting pixels. By competing between teams it is also possible to challenge each other, overwriting the pixels added. Once a fixed number of pixel transactions have been reached, the game stops and the deep learning and AI model comes into play. This model has been trained with the MNIST (Modified National Institute of Standard and Technology) database which allows deciding the winning team and distributing the pool’s prizes.

The game was developed by the DevBug team that needed a suitable blockchain to run an AI model, explained Cortex Labs CEO, Ziqi Chen:

“The DevBug team first reached out to us because we were the only blockchain that allowed them to do what they wanted – running AI models on blockchain – even though at that time we were still in our TestNet phase. But we were all really excited because it was perfect timing and did everything we could to help them navigate our development environment.”

In fact, a video game that can host such a system also requires a suitable blockchain or at least designed for this type of operation and the Cortex blockchain allows the development of this type of dApp because it is based on the Ethereum blockchain.

This is a good way to combine blockchain with artificial intelligence, even if the road is still long, continued the CEO:

“It’s such a clever use of machine learning with the blockchain. For anyone still skeptical about the combination of AI and blockchain, this is the only proof-of-concept they need to see. But anyway, it’s also a brilliant game – we at Cortex Labs are totally going to play it”.

Surely choosing blockchain technology could be viable in the gaming industry in order to achieve a hybrid technology. It is worth mentioning that the project is ranked 302nd on CoinMarketCap and its Cortex token (CTXC) is currently traded at around $0.06.
