Justin Sun, CEO of Tron and BitTorrent, announced a few hours ago that he would commit $1 million to Greta Thunberg’s initiative to reduce the carbon footprint by implementing a decentralised settlement.Â
As a young entrepreneur, I share @GretaThunberg’s passion to change the world. Crypto will contribute immensely on reducing carbon footprint by implementing decentralized settlement. I would like to personally commit USD$1 Mil to @GretaThunberg ’s initiative. #cop25

“As a young entrepreneur, I share GretaThunberg’s passion to change the world. Crypto will contribute immensely on reducing carbon footprint by implementing decentralized settlement. I would like to personally commit USD$1 Mil to GretaThunberg’s initiative. #cop25”.
The announcement on Twitter of the famous young revolutionary of the crypto world, comes just after the declared failure of COP25, the 25th United Nations Conference on Climate Change in 2019 held in Madrid from 2nd to 15th December.
According to reports, it seems that the world’s countries have not succeeded in establishing a regulation on the global carbon market with reference to the Paris agreement.Â
The discussion on global negotiations seems to have been postponed until June 2020, as the global carbon mechanism will enter into force in 2021.Â
A real disappointment for the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist, Greta Thunberg, who has become the movement’s icon since her first school strike in August 2018 and was named Time’s “Person of the Year 2019” a few days ago.Â

In Madrid, Thunberg took part in a march that went on for more than three hours with other young strikers and climate activists to demand ambitious political decisions against climate change. Â
But these decisions seem not to have been taken, and here is Sun’s proposal to intervene on the subject. The idea, in fact, would be to implement a decentralised settlement, a model that would reduce the participation of governments or central bodies which, apparently, cannot easily come to an agreement.Â
Sun would thus unite the crypto world to one of the current challenges facing the planet. A beautiful initiative in which Sun declares to want to commit 1 million US dollars, which is added to the previous ones already implemented by the bold young man.
At the beginning of 2019, in fact, Justin Sun had started his charity campaign for Valentine’s Day, #VoiceYourLove in which he donated $250,000 to the ALS Association dedicated to ALS patients.
