The famous pop singer Rita Ora has promoted bitcoin on her Instagram profile.
Rita Ora is a British singer, actress and model of Kosovan origin who has become very well known in recent times thanks to some very successful pop songs and for having been the face of some important advertising campaigns.
During her young career, which began only in 2011, she has already been in the British Top 10 singles list thirteen times, with four top positions, and has sold more than 18 million songs worldwide.
At the Silver Clef Awards in 2015, she won the Best Female Artist award, as well as an MTV Europe Music Awards and an MTV Video Music Awards.
On Instagram, she has almost 16 million followers, and the latest photo posted portrays her with the Bitcoin symbol painted four times on her face.
The photo is not accompanied by any description, so the intent of the singer is not clear. However, it is quite evident that she did it to promote Bitcoin.
This photo collected more than 80,000 likes and 675 comments in just over ten hours, which is just below the average of the previous photos.
Moreover, it doesn’t seem that the singer has ever promoted Bitcoin before, so it could be the first time she’s ever promoted the cryptocurrency. Her possible passion for BTC was not known to the public until now.
The reasons for this choice are not known, also because Rita Ora doesn’t seem to be involved in any crypto project.
In the past, other pop stars had already shown interest in Bitcoin, or cryptocurrencies, so it could be simply a passion cultivated at a personal level to which she wanted to give notoriety only now.
The reactions of the 675 commentators were curious since only a very small part has recognised that that symbol, in plain sight, was Bitcoin.
This shows how useful initiatives like these can be to get even ordinary people, who generally don’t know Bitcoin, to begin to get acquainted with these new technologies, even if just in a rather superficial way.
In fact, if initiatives like this were to multiply, there would potentially be many people who could start to discover the existence of Bitcoin, and perhaps later learn more about it.
It remains to be seen if Rita Ora will once again promote Bitcoin in the future, or if this will remain a single isolated initiative.
