Bitcoin Billionaire is not a blockchain-based game nor does it allow to earn bitcoin, but it does help understand a bit how the crypto world works.
This is a classic, old-fashioned, free game but with in-app purchases: for €115 it is also possible to remove ads that are sometimes particularly invasive while playing.
The game boasts over 1 million downloads. As mentioned, it has nothing to do with bitcoin and the game itself tells it to users at every start.
Once started, it is necessary to create an avatar. The first mission is to mine 50 bitcoin, which is done by repeatedly clicking on the screen, which simulates the PoW (Proof of Work) to extract the precious bitcoin.
The layout is very simple and features the classic stereotype of the lonely nerd who sits all day in front of the computer to mine bitcoin in an attempt to get rich.
The aim of the game is to reach the maximum amount that can be reached in bitcoin: not the 21 million foreseen by the whitepaper but many more.
As bitcoin accumulate, they can be converted to improve hardware in order to mine more and more BTC.
After more than 14 hours of gameplay, there still a lot to go before reaching the figure of 1 Bb, despite buying everything. The new task is to re-invest the bitcoin: in other words, all bitcoin are lost and the player starts from scratch but with some bonuses, so probably the purpose of this re-investment is only to continue the game starting all over again.
Final game rating:
- Gameplay: fairly limited and repetitive, 3/10;
- Advertising: non-invasive but it is necessary to pay to progress quickly, 5/10;
- Crypto and blockchain integration: none, 0/10.
