Besides the NFTs on Ethereum, there are also those on EOS: in this guide, we will see how to create one.
Most tokens are created using common standards such as the Ethereum (ETH) ERC20, but there are also the so-called NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens), unique and indivisible assets that are usually accompanied by an image (like CryptoKitties).
Not all blockchains allow creating new tokens or NFTs, so it’s a feature that must be kept in mind when choosing a blockchain because if we wish to develop a dApp (decentralized application) that includes this type of token then choosing the right protocol can make the difference.
In this guide we will see how to create an NFT on the EOS blockchain, using the Alcor.exchange platform that also allows listing the token in an autonomous and decentralized way.
The platform allows creating NFTs both on EOS and on different sisterchains like COFFEE, Telos or WAX, but it is also possible to use the local network and the Jungle testnet.
Before starting we will need:
- An EOS account or one on the sisterchains mentioned above;
- At least 1000 bytes of RAM, to store the information of the NFT
- A link to the image that will be associated with the NFT;
- A wallet that supports the EOS blockchain, such as Scatter.
The first step is to launch the wallet and connect to the address of the platform in the NFT Market section.
It is also possible to sell the various NFTs within the same platform.
Note that these NFTs use simple assets to be created, so if we have another type of NFT that has been created with another system then we could not sell it.
Subsequently, it is necessary to click on the “+ Create NFT Token” button.
At this point, the next step is quite intuitive and we will have to enter the token category (card/object/logo), some immutable parameters like the name of the card/object/logo and finally we will have to click on the “Add” button and enter the parameters that can be updated or modified, writing for example in the first field the name and in the next one the content.
Everything must then be saved by pressing the “Add” button.
Once again, after the field has been reset, in the first field we will have to write which image to insert and the link to the image. Each time you have to click the “Add” button to add the token information.
At this point, we can create our NFT by pressing the “Create NFT” button.
And there it is: in a few seconds we have created an NFT with an image and it is possible to see it in the wallet or on an explorer that has the NFT section, in order to view them also outside the ecosystem.
As we’ve seen with this guide it’s easy to create an NFT and with no cost incurred, thanks to the EOS blockchain that is feeless.
