Algorand and digital identity with InfoCert

Through a press release issued by InfoCert, we learn that we will soon be able to have a digital identity service directly on the Algorand blockchain.

InfoCert is the largest certification authority at European level, operating in more than 20 countries, and in Italy, it is recognized as the manager of the SPID (Public Digital Identity Management System), which is essential to access public administration portals.

The partnership between Algorand and InfoCert

This is a close partnership with the Algorand blockchain, and together they will create an ASA (Algorand Standard Asset) within the DIZME platform in order to create fluid and transparent monetization processes in the exchange of certified information related to digital identities.

Moreover, this DIZME platform is not based on blockchain, but on a DLT and therefore has only a few points in common with this technology and it acts as an authority and guarantor of what is recorded within it.

The integration of ASAs is aimed at monetizing the information that the user uploads and can make available to applicants, as recalled by InfoCert’s CTO, Daniele Citterio:

“Our goal is to make DIZME a distributed identity ecosystem where owners not only exercise full control over their credentials, but also benefit from a remuneration reward system, without the need for intermediaries: Algorand provides us with the best blockchain technology to achieve this goal, guaranteeing the safe and fast monetization of exchanged credentials. We are convinced that this partnership is not only a key building block for the further development and deployment of DIZME, but will evolve to support our commitment as facilitators of digital transformation globally”.

Certainly an achievement for the Algorand blockchain, as remarked by the CEO of Algorand, Steve Kokinos:

“The self-sovereign identity solution that InfoCert brings to the Algorand ecosystem is a crucial component. We are thrilled that InfoCert has chosen Algorand and believe that their offering provides an ideal alternative to a centralized solution for personal information, something not yet addressed in the digital world of the Internet”.

It is worth noting that digital identity is very important in this area and several projects have been or are emerging on this subject, such as the one proposed by IOTA, which would like to put on blockchain also health data, so that all personal and health information are in a single system, obviously accessible only to the competent authorities.
